The North Jersey United Pentecostal Church
At North Jersey United Pentecostal Church, we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation for what we believe, teach, and practice.
We are an Apostolic Pentecostal church committed to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, helping people develop a personal relationship with God, and teaching the principles of Christian living found in Scripture.
The Bible — The Word of God
We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God. It reveals God’s nature, His plan of salvation, and His instructions for living a life pleasing to Him.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
There Is One God
We believe there is one God, eternal and indivisible, who has revealed Himself as Father in creation, in the Son for our redemption, and as the Holy Ghost dwelling in believers.
We believe Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the one true God in flesh. He is both fully God and genuinely human.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1, 14; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16
Jesus Christ — Our Lord and Savior
We believe Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived without sin, died for our sins, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day.
Through His death, burial, and resurrection, salvation is made available to everyone who believes and responds to the gospel.
Matthew 1:21–23; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4; Acts 4:12
Salvation — The New Birth
We believe salvation is made possible by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
When people asked the apostle Peter what they should do, he answered:
“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” — Acts 2:38 (KJV)
We teach the biblical response to the gospel: repentance, water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
John 3:3–5; Acts 2:38–39; Acts 8:12–17; Acts 19:1–6
Water Baptism in Jesus’ Name
We believe water baptism is an essential part of the biblical new birth.
Following the practice of the apostles, we baptize by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.
Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:48; Acts 19:5; Romans 6:3–4
The Gift of the Holy Ghost
We believe the promise of the Holy Ghost is for believers today.
We teach that speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance, is the initial outward evidence of receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost, as demonstrated in the book of Acts.
Acts 2:1–4; Acts 2:38–39; Acts 10:44–46; Acts 19:6
Living a Holy and Christ-Centered Life
We believe receiving salvation is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ.
God calls believers to grow in grace, develop Christian character, turn away from sin, and live in holiness in their thoughts, attitudes, conduct, and relationships.
Holiness is not merely outward appearance; it begins with a heart transformed by the Spirit of God and is reflected in the way we live.
Romans 12:1–2; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15–16
The Church and Christian Fellowship
We believe the church is the body of Christ, established by Jesus Himself.
Every believer needs biblical teaching, prayer, worship, fellowship, and opportunities to serve others. God has given pastoral leadership to equip believers for spiritual maturity.
Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42–47; Ephesians 4:11–16; Hebrews 10:24–25
The Return of Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ will return, the dead will be raised, and every person will stand before God in judgment.
We look forward to the eternal hope promised to those who belong to Christ.
John 14:1–3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15
